The Pink Lizards with influences ranging from Muse to Hendrix have been tagged the liveliest rock band on the live music circuit at this point in time. They have been together now for about two years and in this time have created their selves a rather large fan base all over the country and have attracted attention from such record companies as Betrayal Records and Matchbox recordings. Due to their growth in popularity the Lizards have recently set up a fan base on myspace called ‘The Lizardettes’ which in its short time of running has attracted 141 fans.

The Lizards spend a lot of their time writing new original material which is their main objective in a bid to get noticed in the world of music, this is also what the lads prefer to play when doing gigs Could fill an hours set of originals , but to pay the bills also do covers when playing on the pub circuit as this what the pub owners want. Covering bands such as Hendrix, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles and many more, they can easily play for two and half hours only coming up for air and a quick drink.

After many months of concentrating on their own material and making sure they had got the right sound, the Lizards thought it was time to record and release an album, releasing it on their own record label. To mark the release of their album they held a celebratory gig at Irthlingborough Band Club. They expected the night to be a great success but did not expect it to be as successful as it was. The event brought together well over 400 of their loyal fans and was covered by the Channel4 website and the Evening Telegraph, it was also recorded by Aspect Ratio Productions. Since the release of the album it has attracted attention from different areas of the music world and has been reviewed by Overplay.com which states
“Standing at the helm of a speedboat surging between the islands of the rock archipelago, Pink Lizards are on a reckless mission to entertain. Veering wildly from the funk stomps of the Chili Peppers to the up to eleven rawk! of Wolfmother via some very seedy places, the Northamptonshire quartet don’t give an inch to sentimentality on their nine track debut lp.

“One Night Only” – about finding the kind of true love that only ever lasts for, you guessed it, one night only – is a suitably snake hipped initiation. A libidinous vocal from frontman Sam Desborough wraps thighs with throaty howls of White Stripes D4 guitar to give your ears carpet burns. “Lonely Love”, “Fuzzy Rush” and “Crazy Monitor” are similarly barmy blasts of Jet, Datsuns and AC DC retro adrenaline, and all done with considerable flair.
There’s far more to interest here than leather trousers and greasy fringes, however. ”Something Special” is a soaring punk anthem in the style of The Skids, “Block The Waves” is a thumping ramshackle Chili Peppers funkfest and “Beautiful Eyes” is more about coy looks than thrusting crotches with its Cure like indie fragility. The closing “Get Over” even finds time for a bit of laid back slow jam introspection. With influences aplenty and some killer hooks to match, the future’s bright, the future’s pink.”

The Lizards recently came 5th in the rock section of the Channel 4—My Music competition, for 3 tracks of original songs from their album, with over 40,000 votes from listeners. The prize was to win a recording deal and TV coverage. The lads thought it was a great achievement to come 5th out of 1000’s of bands considering the short time they have been together.
